Dear Students,

A very happy new year 2015 !

As the year comes to an end, Galgotias continues its 8-decade-old legacy to grow and become one of India’s premier quality education group. The year 2014 has been an accomplishing and a proud one for all students, faculty, staff and management and we would like to share with you some of the highlights of the achievements and initiatives of the previous year:

PLACEMENTS AND RECRUITMENTS:

Galgotias has once again been able to achieve outstanding placements in the year 2014 with some of the top companies visiting our campuses like Infosys,Cognizant , Wipro which recruit from only very selected quality driven campuses across india , taking a huge number of students in ROUND-1 itself of the in-campus placement drive held at our campuses

Galgotias placements hit a high of 70% Placements for its 2015 batch in first slot of placement session.

Galgotias set a record for itself in campus recruitment during the placement season for the class of 2014-15. The highlight of the placement season was that 1305 offers were given to the students in first week of placement and 85% of Computer Science students were placed.

In this placement session the major selections are, Cognizant (583 students), Infosys (338 students) followed by Wipro Technologies (228 students) and Tech Mahindra (77 students).In continuation to this, 35 companies have also been finalized for the next month and many more are in pipeline. This is to mention that 120 companies visited last year for the placement of 2014 batch and Galgotias hopes high to cross the number in 2015.

Placement season of 2015 batch will continue till July 2015.Many Galgotias received multiple job offers in several companies which is indeed a proud moment for all of us. We congratulate all students and wish them a wonderful career ahead!

Galgotias has been able to achieveMoUs with several leading companies like Infosys, Microsoft, Tata Consultancy Services, Accenture, Wipro, L&T, Ericsson, Capgeminietc for student development and placements and many more are in the pipeline.

GALGOTIANS TOPPING UPTU ONCE AGAIN:

We were proud to see that with hard work and dedication , our students have topped the Uttar Pradesh technical university and we are also extremely proud to see that 7 ( seven) students have topped the Uttar Pradesh technical university in Electronics and Instrumentation Branch which is the highest by any college in Uttar Pradesh.

SaumyaPathak has secured the 1^st position by securing 87.60 % marks in Electronics and Instrumentation (EI)
DeeptiChaudhary has secured the 3rd position by securing 86.34%
VipinYadav has secured 3^rd position in Information Technology (IT)
AbhishekChaudhary has secured 5^th Position
Bhavyachauhan has secured 6^th Position
AbhishekShukla has secured 14^th Position
HimanshuShukla has secured 15^th position
SirajAlam has secured 16^th position

Galgotias was also a Host of numerous events such as the most reputed ICACCI conference. The scope of ICACCI-2014 is to provide an international forum for exchange of ideas among interested researchers, students, developers, and practitioners in the areas of computing, communications, and informatics. The technical program of the Conference included tutorials, regular technical sessions, symposiums, workshops, demos and plenary/keynote speeches. ICACCI-2014 is technically co-sponsored by IEEE Communications Society and IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society.

GEEE 2014 :Galgotias also successfully held the GEEE-2014 ( Galgotias Engineering entrance examination 2014) which was taken by 25000 students in over 15 center’s across the country and only the top 1500meritorious students were selected and given admission to Galgotias University.

NEW INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPEMENTS:

NEW ENGINEERING BLOCK: Galgotias campuses saw several new buildings being inaugurated in campus two. A state of the art Engineering block has just finished construction having latest lab equipment’s, advanced computer labs , Technology enabled seminar rooms , and designated research labs . The faculty and students appreciated the new building which is beautifully designed by ARCOP in Montreal , Canada by leading education experts from across the world. The building with its complete finishing will be completed by March 2015.

NEW HOSTEL BLOCK: A new 2-seater 9 floor hostel building was opened for students living in campus-two with a student capacity of 1200 students which is now operational with facilities such as Wifi, Food-Court, Saloon, Gym, common areas , indoor games, ac/non-Ac rooms ,Dining areas ,centralized hot water , grocery and general store. The hostel is now running on full capacity but will be completed with final finishing by March 2015.

NEW SPORTING FACILITIES: We are now re-developing and renovating a complete sports area in campus-two which will be professionally managed and will include basketball courts , cricket ground , tennis courts , volleyball courts, badminton courts, An Olympic size swimming pool and several other indoor-games which will give a platform for our students to reach any level whichever sport they like to play and excel.

NEW FOOD COURT: A new food court with several brands has already been established and a restaurant is now open at A block with several facilities such as news updates, desktops , reading area , wifi lounge etc where students can take a break after college hours and work on assignments.

B.TECH CSE IN ASSOCIATION WITH IBM with specialization in Cloud Computing, Mainframe Technology, IT Infrastructure and Open Source and Standards :

Galgotias University entered into an MOU with IBM for the launch of the IBM Innovation Centre for Education. The courses delivered at this centre have been designed by industry experts and have industry aligned curriculum. The course contents meet the requirements of futuristic technology. The industry has eagerly reached out with job offers to the students enrolled in this program. Infact 90% of the students of the B.Tech, CSE IBM program secured jobs on day one of the recruitment drive in prestigious companies such as Infosys, Wipro, and Cognizant& Accenture.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY PROGRAM and LIFE LONG LEARNING for Galgotians:

Galgotias University and GCET we have formed School of Lifelong learning (SLLL ), the aim of which is to groom engineering students right form 1st year till 4th year in the following areas such as Professional and behavioral skills, Business English, Presentation Skills, Communication Skills and interpersonal skills, Basic Grammar – parts of speech, sentence correction, sentence completion, Para jumbles, paracompletions,Criticalreasoning, Vocabularybuilding, Reading , writing and speaking, How to face a personal interview, Resume Writing, GroupDiscussions, All the topics of Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and Data Interpretation

The English Proficiency Program introduced at the University develops effective speaking interpersonal skills and mathematical and reasoning skills. This program has been immensely successful in its goal of creating corporate ready students. The placement figures recorded a new high as students cleared the written tests and subsequent interviews of the visiting corporates in large numbers, as a result of the rigorous inputs given to them by the team of motivated and qualified corporate trainers at GU.

RESEARCH GRANTS AND FACULTY RESEARCH:

A DST funded project on “Developing 3G/WLAN Interworking Network with Seamless Mobility Support between the two Systems” has been undertaken with DST – GU – Airtel collaboration. DST has also given substantial grant for setting up a Nano Technology Lab on “Self-assembly of semiconductor nanostructure for sensing”. The faculty at GU has to its credit 213 research papers in both national and international journals
